Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarships for High School Juniors
Up to 300 state scholarships are awarded worth $2,500 each and up to 10 national scholarships are awarded worth up to $25,000 each through this high school junior scholarship program. To qualify you must be a current high school junior who is enrolled in an accredited private or public high school in the U.S. You must also have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and have demonstrated accomplishments in community service and leadership while also overcoming a significant challenge or obstacle. Both state and national scholarships may be applied toward any type of post-high school training or education, including two or four-year technical or trade school, licensing, certification or a two or four-year college.
Executive Women International Scholarships for High School Juniors
This program has a long history of assisting high school juniors in achieving their academic goals. The program has been recognized by Money magazine as being one of the best scholarship opportunities in the country. To qualify for the scholarship, students must be in the eleventh grade and attend a private, public or parochial school. Awards must be used toward earning a four-year degree at a college or university that is accredited. Students are allowed to use scholarship awards for attending a two-year college, but only as the first step toward pursuing a four-year degree. Nominations for this scholarship program are accepted beginning in December through February. Applicants will be judged based on oral and written communication skills, application materials, scholastic records, creativity, leadership qualities, involvement in extracurricular activities, attitude, citizenship, awards and honors and demonstrating clearly defined career goals.
Edward Stringer Jr. Memorial Scholarship for High School Juniors
This $500 scholarship award is given to students who are of Hispanic or African-American descent. Students must attend a Northern California school and have a GPA of at least 2.0 and have plans to attend college following high school graduation. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1st.
Koshland Young Leader Awards for High School Juniors
These awards are given to students who are from economically disadvantaged families or backgrounds and who carry a tremendous amount of responsibility. The goal of the award is to encourage such students to continue with their plans for achieving a higher education and college degree. Up to eight high school juniors will receive an award of $7,000 to be disbursed over a two year period for education related purchases such as books, supplies, computers, academic test fees, etc. The deadline to apply is in late March.
QuestBridge College Prep Scholarships for Juniors in High School
High school juniors who have a strong academic record and an annual family income that is below $60,000 are encouraged to apply for this scholarship program. Scholarship packages are awarded to more than 800 eligible students. Packages may include a full scholarship to a college summer school program, counselling to support student applications to college such as Stanford University, Harvard University, Yale or the University of Notre Dame. The deadline to apply is March 31st.
If you are a junior in high school it’s never too early to apply. Scholarships for high school juniors are not as plentiful as senior high school college scholarships, but there are many good ones to consider like the ones above.
